EPICLogoExecutives Partnering to Invest in Children (EPIC) once again hosted the Colorado Business Reads Book Drive to support their efforts to collect 100,000 books in 2015. To date, they have received 72,500 English books, over $4,000 in donations, and 9,000 brand new Spanish books!

This year, Early Learning Ventures (ELV) was able to secure 5,000 books from EPIC’s Book Drive to be delivered to ELV child care Affiliates across the Denver metro area. In order to facilitate delivering all of these books, ELV reached out to some of its partners and organized a volunteer event. On the morning of Wednesday, June 3, a total of 16 volunteers with Denver Active 20-30, Project Helping, and Daniels Fund scholars came to the ELV offices to pick up books and pick out child care sites for them to deliver to.WelcomeSign

In total, the group was able to deliver 3,200 books to 29 ELV Affiliate child care providers. The remainder of the books will be distributed to ELV Affiliates who join the network in Arapahoe, Garfield, Mesa, and Pueblo counties through ELV’s newly-granted Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership grant that will utilize a collaborative approach to deliver EHS services to 240 eligible children and families.
