Exploring Early Childhood Science with the Denver Museum of Nature & Science

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science supports young learners, families, and early childhood educators through immersive science and nature programs. From field trips and school-based workshops to family learning experiences, the Museum inspires discovery both onsite and in the community. Its flagship educator program, Science is Everywhere, provides Colorado Shines-approved professional development focused on inquiry-based teaching and fostering scientific curiosity in early childhood classrooms.

Today's guest, Tamera Sakotas has been working in informal education for more than 25 years. With a Master’s degree in International Education from the New York University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida at New World School of the Arts, Tamera is uniquely positioned to guide educators and students alike through creative learning experiences that maximize cognitive development and enhance competency and motivation. Previously a Curriculum Specialist at the Sesame Workshop, Tamera brings to her work an essence of research-informed ‘play’, which enhances early childhood education across all content areas. Currently, Tamera is a Teacher Programs Consultant at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, where she facilitates professional development experiences for teachers in the areas of Science Instruction, Mind, Brain and Education, and Nature and Environmental Literacy.
