Judy Williams, Early Learning Ventures Program Director, and Rosemarie Allen, Colorado Department of Human Services’ Director of Child Care Licensing, attended the Global Leaders for Young Children World Forum Conference on Early Care and Education in May, 2011. The World Forum Foundation promotes an on-going global exchange of ideas on the delivery of quality services for young children in diverse settings. Every two years 600 – 800 early childhood professionals from more than 80 countries gather to share ideas on a wide range of issues impacting the delivery of quality services for children and families. At World Forum gatherings, early childhood professionals come together to launch global projects on specific issues and topics. Current projects focus on men in ECE, AIDS and young children, nature education, peace education, teacher education, and immigration and young children.

It is the expectation of the World Forum Foundation that the Global Leader become more effective advocates for young children and their families; develop a better understanding of the global early childhood movement, and how to use the lessons emerging in other countries in our work at home; gain a greater appreciation and understanding of other cultures and the importance of diversity and tolerance as core values in early childhood development; gain a better sense of who we are, how we relate to others, and how we can continue to grow as individuals and as members of our community; and become more effective change agents in our communities and countries for quality early childhood development services.
